Did someone say berry makeup? While it’s virtually impossible to find a one-size-fits-all approach color, berry comes pretty close. It’s like the LBD of makeup. So what’s so attractive about this hue? The fact that this blue-based tint can make our eyes and lips look brighter? Or the fact that it’s a classic standby shade that works for ALL skin tones? Here’s a complete guide on how to wear berry makeup on your lips, cheeks, eyes, and nails.
1. BERRY EYE SHADOW
You don’t want to look like you’re getting ready for the Vampire Ball so tread with caution here! Skip a graphic berry eyeliner in favor of a lighter matte berry hue all over lids, sheering the pigment out as you blend. “Keep your lashes mascara free for a softer look and if you need definition, simply use a deep brown eyeliner,” says Javeri.

2. BERRY LIPSTICK
“Berry is a rich shade family that ranges from vampy purples to wine-reds. No matter which shade you choose, it immediately calls attention to your skin, so make sure you prep it to perfection with concealer and a light foundation with a matte finish,” says makeup artist Arshis Javeri. “Pair it with neutral eyeshadows in smoky charcoal greys, bronze or browns, and top with lashings of mascara.” Lesser mortals, follow Ojas Rajani’s simple trick: “Apply your lipstick straight from the bullet for an intense color payoff. But if you want a ‘smudged just bitten’ appearance, apply the lippie to your finger and tap firmly against your lips.
My personal fave is Nykaa Ultra Matte Lipstick - Cleopatra.
3. BERRY BLUSH
Indian skin tones look fabulous with wine hued blushes. “Darker blush hues in wines and berries are super flattering, but look especially amazing on deeper skin tones,” says Soni. Darker eyes often have hints of yellow, so contrasting them with pinkish plum blush really lights them up. The key is to apply it to the apples of the cheeks and blending outwards with your fingers.
Cream blushes like Milani Baked Blush - 03 Berry Amore is perfect for this softly glowing look.
4. BERRY NAILS
Rajani says this tint looks best on relatively short and either square or oval-shaped pinkies. “ There’s really no wrong way to rock this look,” she says.
We especially love the deeper wine-hued lacquers like Nykaa Salon Shine Gel Nail Lacquer - Vegas Roadtrip, and Nykaa Pop Nail Enamel - Red Velvet.
Javeri says it’s always sensible to apply a base coat to prevent staining when using deeper hues.
Complete the look with a super glossy, quick-drying top coat like Nykaa Nail Care - Shine On Top Coat for a super shiny manicure.
